Just over three years ago, Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs fan witnessed an incredible scoring spurt from Tracy McGrady, who led his team to an improbable one-point victory in an generally meaningless December game. McGrady scored 13 points in 35 seconds, out of “only” 33 that night.
“Those fans that walked out, and there were thousands of them, they missed a great game,” McGrady said at the time.
Thirteen points in 35 seconds…That’s not really that impressive, is it, aside from the fact that several NBA teams have failed to score 13 points in a quarter this season (does anybody have this stat?).
An even more impressive scoring burst, courtesy of Reggie Miller. Eight points in 8.9 seconds. I know, the video only shows six.

Jamario Moon and Gerald Green are locks for next month’s All-Star Dunk Contest, and Dwight Howard is probable as he seeks to revenge last season’s debated loss. The dunk contest is far from its glory years, but you can expect to see something better than these dunks from the past several years.
Okay, so one of these dunk contest clips isn’t a dunk at all, but here are five of the worst All-Star dunk attempts in the NBA.

Yao Ming is now in his sixth year in the NBA, and aside from a couple recent injury-plagued seasons, Yao has made the transition amazingly well. Next to Dwight Howard, and possibly Greg Oden, Yao Ming is keeping the tradition of the big man alive — along with an amazing 82% from the free-throw line for somebody who’s shot releases near the height of the rim.

If you think dunkers like Chris Andersen shouldn’t be allowed to participate in dunk contests, how about this guy from a Lithuanian team? He doesn’t even get close to pulling off this dunk…
At least he it only took him one failure to realize it wasn’t going to happen.

Who do you give the points to on this play? Three players went for this tip slam simultaneously, and while it makes for one intimidating dunk, the players hopefully didn’t mind paying for a new backboard.
