Carmelo Anthony clashed with another Olympic team coach, but this time it was as he chased a ball near the sidelines and hyperextended his knee as he fell onto Mike Krzyzewski. The team doesn’t think the injury is serious, but only time will tell.
Meanwhile, the USA Basketball team escaped with a 90-86 victory over Brazil. The team came out fairly strong and led at halftime before Brazil had a 16-0 run which gave the Brazilians a lead. The Brazilian team was led by Leandro Barbosa of the Phoenix Suns and Anderson Varejao of the Cleveland Cavaliers. A few late turnovers by Brazil let the USA escape with a narrow victory.
Lorenzen Wright is waiting on Al Harrington to sign his contract before joining the Atlanta Hawks for the next two years.
Zoran Planinic and Jiri Welsch are just two of several players who will be leaving to NBA to return and play overseas. Sergei Monia was recently sent back to Russia, as well.

Without giving much in the way of details, John Salmons and his agent have announced that he will no longer be signed and traded off to the Toronto Raptors for a 2007 second-round pick. Because the Phoenix Suns signed Marcus Banks figuring Salmons was already gone, Salmons doesn’t seem to have any other offers from other teams.
“Do I look like a guy with a foot injury?” Yao Ming seems to have recovered quickly from his broken foot, and was walking around in regular tennis shoes. Though he may still have some rehab to do and may not play for the Chinese National team, he should be able to return immediately to the Houston Rockets this season.
The Washington Wizards hope to win the championship with Gilbert Arenas. Abe Pollin has talked with the star guard and was happy to hear that Arenas doesn’t plan to opt out of his contract in the near future.
The Rocky Mountain Revue ended last night. The MVP of the summer league was the Atlanta Hawks‘ Marvin Williams. The other five players creating the All-Tournament team included Utah Jazz draft picks Ronnie Brewer and Paul Millsap, Seattle Sonic guard Andre Emmett, and the Sixers were represented by Steven Smith and Louis Williams.
Los Angeles Lakers center Chris Mihm will be having surgery on his right ankle to remove scar tissue and will have to wear a protective boot for several weeks before training camp.

Be sure to check out the new Air Jordan commercial here. The link should take you to the Google Video store, where you can also find some great highlights and complete NBA games, including Kobe and his eighty-one points versus the Raptors.
Anyway, the commercial is pretty awesome. The commercial shows junior high and high school students playing and pulling out some signature MJ moves. Of course, there’s been a little bit of editing done, but nothing too cheesy. You can download it from Google Video and play it on your PC, PSP, or iPod Video.
