Team USA prepares to face Dirk, Germany

In case you missed it, Team USA beat Andrew Bogut and Australia and will face Dirk Nowitzki and Germany on Wednesday. For the record, the game is in the quarterfinal round, meaning that USA Basketball is hopefully just three games away from capturing the gold medal.

LeBron James will sport two tattoos during the game. Besides his hometown’s area code on his right arm, James had “Witness” tattooed onto his calf. You can guarantee that the tattoo will find it’s way in many Nike advertisements, as that has been a main catchphrase concerning the superstar.

While the Minnesota Timberwolves would like to sign free agent forward Reggie Evans, the team believes that Evans will end up re-signing with the Denver Nuggets.

Bonzi Wells is struggling to find a large contract and may have to sign a one-year contract. The Sacramento Kings offered him a five-year, $38 million deal.

Tubby Smith claims that Boston Celtics‘ rookie Rajon Rondo was no part of the team’s mediocre season last year. While Rondo has a knack for rebounding, Smith said that “when your point guard is your leading rebounder then you do have some issues.”

Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, and Josh Childress all had their contract options picked up by the Atlanta Hawks, meaning that they will join ten other small forwards (in addition to Speedy Claxton and Shelden Williams) on next year’s team.

NBA veteran Kenny Anderson is looking to make a return to the league, after playing overseas last season. Anderson most recently played for the Los Angeles Clippers and could end up as a training camp invitee somewhere this fall.
