Jeffries signs offer sheet with Knicks
The Washington Wizards have seven days to match the New York Knicks‘ offer to Jared Jeffries. The deal may be worth as much as the full mid-level exception — or five years and $30 million. The Wizards will have a tough decision to make as the team will have to pay an extra luxury tax by bringing him back, but the team apparently already made a deal larger than the Knicks and could likely match the offer.
Drew Gooden may not end up re-signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The team appears to becoming sick of negotiating with the forward, and may end up going after Reggie Evans or Lorenzo Wright. Because Gooden is a restricted free agent, the team would probably match any offer made unless they can bring in Evans instead.
The Los Angeles Clippers have signed Aaron Williams to a two-year, $3.54 million deal. The deal is depedent on the veteran passing a physical in the next several days.
The Golden State Warriors would like to trade for Jamaal Magliore. Troy Murphy would likely become the main player headed to the Milwaukee Bucks, though the team isn’t sure they’d like to end up with Murphy’s contract.
Meanwhile, the Magliore deal involving the Portland Trailblazers is bringing up conflicting reports. Reports from newspapers in Racine and Milwaukee both say that the Bucks and Trailblazers are each ready to pull the trigger and complete the trade, but the other team is slowing the deal down.
