Jones a Raptor; Johnson to Dallas
Fred Jones is going to sign with the Toronto Raptors since John Salmons will no longer be joining the team. Jones was originally a restricted free agent for the Indiana Pacers, but the team rescinded their offer which means Jones is now unrestricted.
You won’t see John Salmons back with the Philadelphia Sixers. Salmons doesn’t seem to have any team actively looking to sign him now, after the three teams being considered before have all found different options.
The Pacers will be receiving Darrell Armstrong and Josh Powell from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Anthony Johnson.
Avery Johnson and Mark Cuban are having a difficult time coming up with a new head coaching contract for the Coach of the Year. Johnson is only making around $2.5 million a year, which is in the bottom third of the league. Meanwhile, the team signed assistant coach Del Harris to a one-year contract.
The Detroit Pistons have told Carlos Delfino that they won’t trade him to any other NBA team. Delfino is unhappy with the Pistons, but the team said the only place they’d let him go would be overseas.
Al Harrington’s new contract with the Indiana Pacers will be for six years and $57 millon, once the trade takes place in the next couple of days.
The Denver Nuggets are going to sign Yakhouba Diawara, a free agent guard from France. Diawara turned down a contract for more money after promising he’d sign with the Nuggets for two years and $1.1 million.
