The Washington Wizards have seven days to match the New York Knicks‘ offer to Jared Jeffries. The deal may be worth as much as the full mid-level exception — or five years and $30 million. The Wizards will have a tough decision to make as the team will have to pay an extra luxury tax by bringing him back, but the team apparently already made a deal larger than the Knicks and could likely match the offer.
Drew Gooden may not end up re-signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The team appears to becoming sick of negotiating with the forward, and may end up going after Reggie Evans or Lorenzo Wright. Because Gooden is a restricted free agent, the team would probably match any offer made unless they can bring in Evans instead.
The Los Angeles Clippers have signed Aaron Williams to a two-year, $3.54 million deal. The deal is depedent on the veteran passing a physical in the next several days.
The Golden State Warriors would like to trade for Jamaal Magliore. Troy Murphy would likely become the main player headed to the Milwaukee Bucks, though the team isn’t sure they’d like to end up with Murphy’s contract.
Meanwhile, the Magliore deal involving the Portland Trailblazers is bringing up conflicting reports. Reports from newspapers in Racine and Milwaukee both say that the Bucks and Trailblazers are each ready to pull the trigger and complete the trade, but the other team is slowing the deal down.

The Portland Trailblazers and Milwaukee Bucks have been having discussions about a trade involving Jamaal Magliore. One offer that was apparently made was Magliore in exchange for Steve Blake, Brian Skinner, and Ha Seung-Jin.
Uros Slokar has become the next foreign player to join the Toronto Raptors. The deal is just for one year. The team drafted Slokar with the 58th pick in last year’s draft.
The Phoenix Suns signed New Zealander Sean Marks to a one-year deal. For Marks, this will be his fifth team in seven years in the NBA.
According to reports in Atlanta papers, the Hawks will re-sign Al Harrington to a 6-year deal, then send him and backup center John Edwards (another former Pacer) back to the Indiana Pacers for cash, a future draft pick, and a $7.5 million trade exception. Apparently, the deal can’t be finalized because the teams can’t decide on how much cash should be involved.
The New Jersey Nets would like to sign either Eddie House or Devean George. George has been rumored a lock to sign with the Mavericks and the Miami Heat have House at the top of their free agent list, so the team may have to look for somebody else to fill that swingman/shooter role.
Kenyon Martin may be on his way out of Denver, if the Dallas Mavericks have their way. There have been rumors that they’d like to trade for Martin, who seems to be on the trading block in Denver. Jerry Stackhouse looks like a strong candidate to be involved the deal…

The Orlando Magic re-signed Trevor Ariza to a new contract, though the terms of the contract have yet to be announced. “We are very pleased to bring Trevor back, as he is a key part of our young core,” General Manager Otis Smith said.
Mikki Moore was sent from the Seattle Sonics to the New Jersey Nets for a second-round draft pick in 2009. Moore may end up being the veteran they play until Josh Boone recovers from his shoulder injury.
“Round Mound of Rebound” Charles Barkley is considering making another run at becoming the governor of Arkansas. The opinionated Hall-of-Famer says he’d run as a Democrat.
The Denver Nuggets are expected to sign big man Jamal Sampson. Though nothing has been confirmed, it’s believed that Sampson will be signing a league minimum contract to replace the Franciso Elson.
Ben Wallace isn’t enough for the Chicago Bulls, who’d like to add another player to play alongside Wallace and draft pick Tyrus Thomas. John Paxson said he’d like to add another frontcourt player, though no names were brought up.
The Portland Trailblazers aren’t sure where Darius Miles will be this coming season. Miles said at the end of the season that he’d like to be traded. Head coach Nate McMillian met with the underachieving small forward, but McMillan was left unsure of the player’s intentions.

The recent reports from around the NBA are saying that the Philadelphia Sixers have taken Allen Iverson off the trading block and expect to see the guard in uniform with the team next season. Iverson seems to be relieved because he was hoping to stay in Philadelphia but was willing to leave if it was best for the team and AI.
The Orlando Magic’s draft pick disaster Fran Vasquez has further complicated things by signing a new contract overseas. The four-year deal is worth around $7 million but his buyout is higher than $10 million, which would greatly discourage the team from paying to bring him over if an agreement was made.
A sign-and-trade may not work for Bonzi Wells and the Sacramento Kings. The Kings are trying to be careful with their salaries, and so Wells may have to end up with whoever offers him the most money or best situation on the market.
Kevin Pittsnogle signed a two-year deal to play for the Boston Celtics. Pittsnogle, who went undrafted, played for a couple of teams’ respective summer league teams but didn’t play well enough to land a contract with the others.
Steve Novak, a second-round pick, will sign a contract with the Houston Rockets in the near future. The team hopes Novak’s outstanding three-point shooting will help spread the defense for Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady to create.
The Toronto Raptors have officially waived Alvin Williams. Willams has only played in one game since March 2004.
