Air Jordan XXI Commercial

Be sure to check out the new Air Jordan commercial here. The link should take you to the Google Video store, where you can also find some great highlights and complete NBA games, including Kobe and his eighty-one points versus the Raptors.

Anyway, the commercial is pretty awesome. The commercial shows junior high and high school students playing and pulling out some signature MJ moves. Of course, there’s been a little bit of editing done, but nothing too cheesy. You can download it from Google Video and play it on your PC, PSP, or iPod Video.

Hill likely done with the Magic

It looks likely that Grant Hill will be released from the Magic in the near future. An unnamed team official told the Orlando Sentinal that, “I’m not sure Grant would want to be a part of the way this is going to go”. Hill has only played in a little more than one hundred games with the Magic because of injuries, who traded Chucky Atkins and Ben Wallace to the Pistons for him in 2000.

Look for Suns GM Bryan Colangelo to be resigning in the next day or two so he can take a job with the Toronto Raptors. Colangelo, was the NBA’s Executive of the Year after he brought in Steve Nash two summers ago.

Meanwhile, Jerry Colangelo and Mike Kryzyzewski will be announcing the twenty-five players who will represent USA Basketball on television this Sunday. Some of the names you can expect to hear are Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and Chauncey Billups.

Kevin Garnett is dishing out $5,000 after throwing a ball into the stands. He walked over the the fan to apologize before getting thrown out, but the man wanted to no part of it.

Knicks preparing to acquire KG

It looks like the Knicks will be making a serious push for Kevin Garnett over this summer. Though its hard to say if the Knicks would be willing to trade Channing Frye as part of the package, it’s likely that newly-acquired Steve Francis would be sent over to the Timberwolves. If the trade ever happens over the summer, it would be the second time that Stephon Marbury and Kevin have played together, and that combination may be strong enough to get the Knicks and their $125,000,000 payroll back to the playoffs.

It looks like either Tony Delk or Howard Eisley willed be signed by the Pistons in the next couple days. Delk seems to be the first option, but he is also considering going to the Wizards.

Several teams are pushing for Tim Thomas, with the Nets looking the front-runner. The Nuggets are also one of the teams hoping to get Thomas.

Fans of Gonzaga’s Adam Morrison should be watching for a grossly rare item coming up before the draft. A piece of gauze which the star used to stop a nosebleed during a game against Pepperdine had reached $60 before the NCAA asked the seller to remove the item from auction. The seller wrote that, “once Adam Morrison is no longer a student-athlete, I will start a new auction for the item.

Penny’s return to Orlando short-lived

We heard earlier today that Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway will be waived from the Orlando Magic after being traded with Trevor Ariza for Steve Francis. Hardaway was originally drafted by Golden State in 1993, but he was traded off to the Magic where he played for his first six seasons. He has been an All-Star multiple times, all with the Magic.

After returning from an injury, Penny never really made it back to his original game, but he has played solid minutes for the Suns and the Knicks. It’s hard to tell where he’ll be headed next, but he could be a solid pickup for a playoff team.

Speaking of playoff teams, the Spurs were close to finalizing a trade that would have brought the team J.R. Smith in exchange for Brent Barry. The San Antonio Express-News reported that “The deal was close enough to completion…that Spurs officials initially told Barry he might not need to board the team’s charter flight here”. The deal apparently fell apart just before the deadline.

Barry has played only sparingly since Argentinan star Manu Ginobili returned to the team.

Smith also hasn’t been logging many minutes. He seems to have fallen out of favor with New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets coach Byron Scott. Smith, whose just 20 years old, has been told by Scott that he hasn’t put enough effort into improving his game.

Other moves after the deadline: Lee Nailon was waived from the Cavaliers, and Tony Delk was released from the Atlanta Hawks.

Four-Way Deal; Watson to Seattle

Though the biggest deal around the deadline may have to the Knicks taking on Steve Francis’ contract and migraines, there have been a few smaller moves so far around the NBA, including a four-team deal which featured Earl Watson being sent up to Seattle.

Sonics Receive:

  • PG Earl Watson
  • SG Bryon Russell

Kings Recieve:

  • SG Sergei Monia
  • C Vitaly Potapenko

Nuggets Receive:

  • PF Reggie Evens
  • SG Ruben Patterson
  • SG Charles Smith

Trailblazers Receive:

  • PF Brian Skinner
  • SG Voshon Lenard

Sacramento didn’t have to give up a lot [Brian Skinner] to get ahold of a young talented player in Sergei Monia, and Ruben Patterson was finally traded from Portland, whose still trying to scrap their nickname the ‘Jailblazers’…

Other small trades:

  • New Jersey trades Marc Jackson and Linton Johnson to the Hornets for Bostjan Nachbar
  • Cleveland grabs Flip Murray from Seattle for Mike Wilks, a second-round pick, and cash
  • Miami acquires Derek Anderson from the Rockets for rookie Gerald Fitch
  • Lee Nailon returns to Cleveland for a conditional second-round pick

We’ll post more deadlines deal as they are announced. Did your favorite team make a move? Share your opinion on all of the trades as they go down by posting on our forums.
